UGI Endoscopy
Upper GI endoscopy is a strategy to assess the mucosa of throat, stomach and duodenum.Endoscope is presented by the mouth after sedation, mucosal appearance of throat, stomach and duodenum is assessed and biopsy can be taken from dubious regions, and endotherapy should be possible for the draining injuries.
Endoscopy is a very protected methodology with next to no entanglements. It is typically done on short term premise and patient can be released in 1-2 hours
Indications of UGI Endoscopy
- Bleeding (red or coffee colored blood) from mouth
- Difficulty in swallowing food
- Upper abdominal pain
- Chronic diarrhea
Therapeutic procedures that can be done during endoscopy are
- Banding of varices
- Endotherapy of ulcers
- Polyp removal
- Foreign body removal
- Dilatation of strictures
- APC application for GAVE/PHG/PGP
- Stenting of esophagus and duodenum
