COLOPOSCOPY PROCEDURE

A colposcopy is a procedure performed by gynecologists to closely examine the cervix, vagina, and vulva for signs of disease, such as abnormal cells or cancer. It involves using a special magnifying instrument called a colposcope to visually inspect the tissues for any abnormalities. If suspicious areas are found, a biopsy may be taken for further examination. It’s often recommended when a Pap smear or other screening test shows abnormal results.
